The Real Problem - Our education systems, across the globe
Updated: Feb 21, 2019
“I think one of the problems [with raising intelligent children in modern society] is compulsory schooling..."
"and that children are sitting there, and they are taught and told what to believe; they are passive from the very beginning – and one must be very, very aggressive intellectually to have a high IQ [...] the child is taught.Right from the beginning, it's a passive process. He or she sits there, and they simply try to believe everything they're told?” ― Marilyn Vos Savant
We live in a #world full of #dogma, #patriarchy, #misogyny, #discrimination, #hate, #war and the list goes on and on. If you still think the #education systems across the #globe are working efficiently and effectively, I would agree; but they are working to produce individuals who lack the capacity to #think for themselves- gullible, manipulatable individuals who don’t know themselves stuck perpetually, mindlessly chasing after one thing to the next- never satisfied, never existing in the moment, individuals who can’t realize they’re being fooled by their own #mind yet think of themselves with high regards because their only measure of “success” is #wealth, material accumulation.
I wonder what they intend to do with all that material wealth when death knocks at their door. #Time is the most valuable asset you own. When you spend #money your cost is the amount of time of your #life you spent to earn that arbitrary financial gain which we give so much importance to. You may receive a refund for a product but Time spent is time lost. Spend it well, self-education is an investment in-yourself- what could be more valuable then time spent on one’s own #growth and #development not just aesthetic, physical features but MENTAL development. #MENTAL #HEALTH is equally if not more important than physical health. Be wise live up to your name, #HomoSapien!
Research shows that there is only half as much variation in student achievement between schools as there is among classrooms in the same school. If you want your child to get the best education possible, it is actually more important to get him assigned to a great teacher than to a great school. ― Bill Gates
They aren’t the institutions they ought to be. Institutions which are meant to promote curiosity, creativity, discipline, cooperation, cohesion and most of all to prepare young individuals to be self-sufficient, dependable, responsible, compassionate citizens of their community and the larger world.
The sad reality is all they do is churn out individuals incapable of independent thought who lack the capacity to realize, differentiate fact from opinion and make choices, decisions and judgements based on uninformed, emotional, egotistical, clouded thoughts and conclusions.
